  1. Take more time to make fewer images.<\/li>\n
  2. Choose a proper subject. It will be the anchor of the image.<\/li>\n
  3. Step back and cross the street: circle the subject first, as a hawk circles its prey.<\/li>\n
  4. Wide angle helps tell a story. Telephoto helps isolate subject.<\/li>\n
  5. Don’t put the subject dead centre. If 3rds won’t work, even a bit off centre is good.<\/li>\n
  6. Locate directional elements that lead to and from the subject.<\/li>\n
  7. Use positive and negative space – rivers leading to or framing the subject.<\/li>\n
  8. Don’t let the horizon split the image in half. Place it on 1\/3 or 2\/3 lines instead.<\/li>\n
  9. Think about 3s in other areas: 3 items, 3 lights etc.<\/li>\n
  10. Border patrol: look around the edges of the frame for distractions.<\/li>\n
  11. Check for distractions interacting with the subject.<\/li>\n
  12. With portraits, remember headroom.<\/li>\n
  13. Avoid triangles in the corners.<\/li>\n
